Community Visiting Scheme
o The Community Visiting Scheme helps isolated older people to live in the community and maintain their independence through the support of a volunteer visitor.
o The service is offered to people living in Northallerton, Bedale and surrounding villages and hamlets.
o Volunteers usually visit someone’s home for one to three hours per week.
o Other duties such as shopping or dog walking are also part of this valuable service.
o Last year volunteers carried out over 1,700 hours of visiting.
o If you are interested in finding out more about the scheme or volunteering to become a visitor telephone 01609 780458 on Mondays or Wednesdays between 10am to 3pm and speak to Andrea Pearce, or leave a message on our 24hr answer machine.
‘The volunteer you sent me is lovely, with her kindness and patience; she has given me the confidence to go out to the shops again.’
