Carers Sitting Scheme

o The Carers Sitting Scheme provides full time carers with a couple of hours break a week to go shopping, attend support groups, training events or just take some time off.

o We provide a volunteer carer to sit with dependent relatives who are at risk if left alone.

o The service is offered to people living in Northallerton, Bedale and surrounding villages and hamlets.

o Volunteers involved with this scheme are given training and supported by the scheme co-ordinator.

o Home visits are carried out by the co-ordinator who will look to match the person being carer for with a volunteer who has similar interests.

o Last year over 1000 hours of volunteer support were offered to carers through this scheme.
