Bedale & District Community Car Scheme

o The Bedale & District Community Car Scheme is a service for people unable to access public or private transport.

o Our volunteer drivers provide transport using their own vehicles.

o Service users may have mobility problems, a disability or live in a remote rural area.

o The charge for the service is 40p per mile (Jan 08).

o There is a minimum charge of £2.50 and mileage rates are calculated from the driver’s home and back again.

o Journeys can be booked on Mondays to Thursdays from 9am to 1pm on tel. 01677 425329 and speak to Kate Duggan, or a message can be left on the 24hr answer-phone.

o Anyone wishing to volunteer to become a driver can contact the scheme on the number above.

o The Bedale & District Community Car Scheme provided over 2,000 journeys last year.
